Well, I’ve gone and done something rather naughty but also quite satisfying. Behave not that! But as you know, I’m a huge fan of Oliver McNeil’s The Storymaster’s Tales RPG. Players are usually represented by little glass counters, and although Ironrat Mini’s started a line in making miniatures for the different classes, this ceased due to lockdown or brexit or Katie Hopkins or other frightful things. Last night, I browsed eBay and discovered Reaper Miniatures did models of all the 16 classes I needed for a complete set. For generic effect I’ve even purchased the three covered by Ironrat.
My royalties for Literally Immersive Gamebooks have paid for these, I think it’s a job well done. Some of the detail is lovely.
Tickets for the the second dedicated Fighting Fantasy Fest are still on sale but time is running out. Click here if you wish to drop by this day long event organised by gamebook guru Jonathan Green, with guests of honour Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, plus an army of the series’ authors and illustrators.
I recently had a chat on Twitter with Ian Livingstone. I had mentioned in a tweet that of late I came up with a game formula based on one of his works. I never expected a reply but received two, along the lines of ‘go ahead and build your idea then get back to me’. Even nicer he congratulated our engagement. So last night I started work, and will construct a scaled down version of the idea out of bits of scrap paper and cardboard. Once complete, I’ll play test it and if all goes well, make a demo video for him.
My Sponge came round tonight for dinner. We decided to be naughty and have a takeaway. That’s not a euthamism. I miss her so much when she’s not around.
Apparently there’s going to be a High School reunion later this year. It’s be nice to see a few. A very small few. In the cold light of day I hated high school and a lot of my schoolmates… maybe half a dozen staff as well. I’m happy with what I have now. Don’t need demons of yesteryear to reenter my life.
Words cannot express the ineffable pride I am feeling right now even though still recovering from a bout of sciatica. Special thanks to Jonathan Green who has immortalised my name in a recent project very dear to me. See you Sunday! More gloating and showing off about that soon.
I returned to work today and managed to do a little catching up so I am certainly on the mend. Tomorrows the big day when Mr Lain and I hit the road for Sundays event. As much as anything else I am looking forward to going to that posh Italian restaurant Mr Leicester has booked. Already chose what I’d like. Hope it doesn’t give me the shits. Everything is packed and the taxi is booked for just before noon tomorrow. Hope to get there safely. Especially now I have a love interest… wink wink 😉
I hear Most Haunted may get another outing. Do people still take this crap in?
