Been rather flattered this week. Ive recieved a dedication in a book but I cant really speak about it right now as its still in production stages. I feel rather proud. Today is my first day off work, as im using up the leave I have left over. Vics got sky now, the internet isn’t working but the tv plans active. Means I should get Walking Dead back, but for tonight im looking forward to #HotFuzz at 9pm

Theres much to do while im off. Painting, laying a carpet, check up at docs. If only I could win the.lottery I can get out of all that :-/

Saboteur 2 review

The last few hours have been rather exciting for me. When I was about 11 years old, my ‘then’ brother in law had managed to pick up a 48k Spectrum computer. For several weeks throughout the summer holidays I’d go round my sisters and have a game of Saboteur II. Remember it? The sequel to Clive Townsend’s masterpiece, Saboteur.

By todays standard you probably wouldn’t appreciate the impact it had on me, but it brought me and inlaw closer together although being a bellend he was still full of front and bullshit. I digress. We enjoyed this action adventure where we played some kind of stealth assassin. (The sister of the previous Saboteur). Starting off on a hang glider was origional to say the least, and you had to wait a certain amount of screens for a safe enough leap off. Jump too soon and you’ll fall several hundred feet onto a craggy cliff.

Once you have leapt off safely, the adventure begins. You need to infiltrate a huge enemy compound (much larger than the origional) fight your way past armed guards and viscous pumas (wtf), locate a dozen or so bits of paper hidden about the complex, deactivate a huge silo, find the lower levels while you dodge vampire bats, and escape on a motorbike. What a rush!!
Canny players will draw a map or direction list as they play. I do remember managing to escape, but only my inlaw found all bits of paper and deactivate the silo. It took him three hours apparently and even then his friend lent a map to him.

This game had everything, even the graphics improved on the origional, the pace of the hero, the flying kicks and somersaults and general flow were all nice and smooth. The pumas were especially fun to watch, and when you killed them left you feeling a wee bit guilty. (If you have any conscience at all)

It was a great privilege to chat breifly to Clive Townsend himself and if you are also a fan then check out his website clivetownsend.com for news and the saboteur goody shop. He is currently working on bringing Saboteur II to an app format having already released the first. I will certainly be waiting in the shadows for this! Goodluck Clive.

Well…. aren’t the IMPS doing well eh? 3-2 against Woking and our mate won I couple of hundred on a result bet. I must say it’s great to see ones hometown doing so well. Short but sweet, Jam out!

The Second Coming

Clues in the title really. This is only the second post ive made to the blog this year. Forgive me it’s been all go. We’ve been poorly, we’ve been unlucky and we’ve also had a bereavement lately. There are never any ways to get through unhappiness easily, as I’ve covered before when I’ve spoken about depression. You really do need to immerse yourself in activity…preferably with people around.

On a cheerier note, we got round to learning the #Zombies card game yesterday to take our mind off things. Its never gonna win best game ever awards but it really is fun and quite simple to play. Would recommend it.

Happy New Year 2017

I know its always rather unwarranted but to wish someone’s New Year to be good is always properly nice. With last year being such an emotional roller coaster im hoping this year will be much brighter, more enjoyable. There are several events this year which could doubtlessly provide the highs. More on those when the time comes. Bit of a shadow looming over me at work due to illness absence but fingers crossed it’ll not get bad. Must charge the phone, back soon 🙂

Last Christmas

So three more stars grace the hereafter over this short Christmas break. Zsa Zsa Gabor who’s been around since always, George Michael whom everybody knows and who’s music is engraved on everybody’s brain at some point. Liz Smith…who’s appearances in The Royle Family, The Vicar Of Dibley and Bottom has kept us giggling over the last 25 years. And now Carrie Fisher, just 60 years old and most famous for Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise.

The Grim Reaper keeps harvesting all my childhood heroes and theyre only going to increase in rate as we grow older, but then this is the circle of life. It can come at any age for any reason. We should enjoy our lives and loved ones with precious grace so that we are remembered fondly when we have no more presence.

Be awesome to each other for a better future. Sometimes all it can take is you to make the first move even if you don’t feel you should…and then the world becomes a better place. Simply stay away from those who antagonize you for a clearer and more enjoyable life. Civility can be all.

Here are some UK numbers you may find useful if you need any help in your life. Be sure to share if you wish.

Samaritans 116 123

Domestic Violence Hotline: 0808 2000 247

Mind 0300 123 3393

All Our Yesterdays

Thats the domain renewed for another year. Seasons greetings to you all. Been quite a bad week for me on an emotional level. Left me with feeling rather like I did back in July. Might be a GP job. Looking back on 2016, there have been some happy times, but also some very dark ones. Thats before we include the Angel Of Death’s harvest of celebrity heroes. Im hoping 2017 will bring new light, happiness, confidence and faith into my life, especially with help from my fiance (winky signs 😉 😉 x). I hope my readers also get the year they want as well.

Good news to all those people who couldnt make Fighting Fantasy Fest back in 2014…and those who did! Well the truth is, Fighting Fantasy Fest 2 has been confirmed with this picture riding round the web promoting the event.

After the awesome atmosphere and success of the first FFF, im poised, ready and waiting for the ticket launch and hoping to meet all my fellow fanatics and heroes of this ever popular book series. Eventbright was chosen as the last ticket vendor so keep an eye out and join the ‘Fighting Fantasy and Other Gamebooks’ Facebook group to keep ontop of the arrangements.

Maudlin 2016

Well 2016. No other year has played on my tears so much as far as I can remember and thats saying something. Aside from personal losses the Grim Reaper has harvested a plethora of loved celebrities and childhood heroes. It also saw a chance at parenthood which was tragically ended soon after it had began. At one point I thought id lost Vic as well.

However it wasnt without its good points. My 40th birthday was great, and going to see Knightmare Live in London with the lads was terrific. Had some successful book hunts with Victoria and been to some lovely places geocaching. We have our little kitty Drutt, and ive immortalised my name in several more publications. Maybe I should write my own? 2017 will see much change so I shall ask this at a later date.

Chat soon, Jam
