The Hypocrisy Of AI Haters

There’s something rather amusing about people who spend their days ranting about how terrible AI is—while simultaneously relying on it without even thinking about it.

AI is already woven into everyday life. It helps power smartphone assistants, navigation apps, search engines, spam filters, fraud detection, recommendation algorithms, smart cameras, customer-service systems, banking security and countless other conveniences. Many people who loudly declare that they “hate AI” probably use AI-driven technology several times before they’ve even finished their morning coffee.

That doesn’t mean every criticism of AI is wrong. There are legitimate concerns about privacy, employment, misinformation, copyright and how AI is developed and used. Those are perfectly reasonable things to debate.

But there’s a difference between **criticising the problems surrounding AI** and pretending that AI itself is something you can simply reject while continuing to enjoy its benefits every day.

If you use a smartphone, rely on Google Maps to find somewhere, let your email filter out spam, use online banking fraud protection, accept recommendations from streaming services or benefit from automated accessibility tools, you are already interacting with AI in some form.

So perhaps the more honest position isn’t “I hate AI.”

Maybe it’s: **“I have concerns about AI, but I recognise that it’s already an important part of modern life.”**

Because ranting about the technology while happily benefiting from it is less a principled stand—and more than a little hypocritical.

If a blind person can’t read, they have audiobooks. If a disabled person can’t walk, they have a scooter. If someone can’t sing, they have auto tone. Deal with it!

Still, I penned….PENNED….a song for them all.
