This past week has been rather nice. Started dating with Diane, got loads done out in the back garden too. Planted a few spring bulbs in for next year as well… I think bulbs and meadow seed are the way forward because of our tight budgets. Just need to keep on top of it all. The hedgehog is still making appearances, even Diane’s dog, Gin managed to spot him scurrying off. This week has also seen Mr Lain send off his adventure to the Fighting Fantasy website. Hope its up there soon, having proof read it for him its quite a unique storyline and I hope to see more. Speaking of which I have at least 3 books to read as well so may have to crack on with those soon.

Went to Grantham yesterday and met my lovely Diane and the wonderful Gin. We had a great time walking him around Bourne woods. There was plenty of wildlife, from squirrels to dragonflies it was amazing. Nice and sunny too. We took several photo’s each including one of a frog! Really hope we meet up again. Like an idiot I didn’t think to stop off for a drink and snack so went nine hours without either. I ate a hearty meal when I returned home and washed it down with some Stella Artois Cidre. Of course this reboot to my digestive system knocked me out at just 9pm. Who cares, great day indeed !!!
Well after Thursday and Fridays dreadful atmos I have hit Sunday with a lovely positive. Going to meet Diane on Tuesday. I’ve been fiddling about with the settings on my old Kodak camera. Need a new one really if I am to go into photography a little more. Time for me time!
Not as bad as the title and cliche suggests but big thanks to ‘them’ I’m well chuffed with it and will get an order in shortly for more.
My last day at work for a week and looking forward to some time off. Moods have been a bit dodgy again lately so hope to come back to a better atmos. Finished reading You Are The Hero by Jonathan Green last night. Still a thrill seeing my name in print. I hope he does a similar project someday. Got three new Fighting Fantasy books to read of course so will be throwing some hours in their direction. Payday only a week and a half away now. Just hope my omeprazole supply holds out till then. Got to pay Mr Aukett off for his contributions. My overtime should cover that. Need to start saving for Xmas now too. I like it but…ruddy hell. Should atheists really be taking part? 😉 Guess so on the commercial side of it. What is myrrh anyway…think somebody I met recently knows.
Were my ex’s dissatisfied with my body? A tiny part of me says yes.
I married way too young…she went back to China though 😉
Sometimes doing the right thing can hurt the most, not just you but others you hold dear as well. However in facing this and accepting your limitations you are being true to yourself and everyone round you. Hate disappointing anyone but it happens. And we all move on as I know only too well.
With thoughts still very honed on this last weekend, I returned to work and set about a very bog standard day. However it was quite a buzz to see my FF related bits shared up on the paper.li website and it brought a few hits in I dare say. Nice how the crew and fanatics seem to have become close friends, and as its under one guilty pleasure, almost family like. Now to get saving again.
Ill leave you with this advice…
Before marriage, a man yearns for the woman he loves.
After marriage, the “y” becomes silent.
Good job I booked today off. I’m still reeling from meeting my heroes, and having updated the FF page I have begun to read Jonathans epic YATH. Up to page 48 thus far. The Facebook groups are flooded with all fans pictures and I’ve received and sent several friends requests thanks to FFF. Anyway, back to reality tomorrow. At least this week will only be a four dayer, and I have a date with a nice lady on Saturday…
Well today (7th, its just passed midnight) …Mr Lain, Mr Leicester and myself made it to the Fighting Fantasy Fest. It was a bizarre experience, turning around a corner in a hotel and seeing your childhood heroes. Star struck…I pigeon stepped over to the first two familiar faces I recognised was Ian Livingstone and Russ Nicholson. They briefly, looked up from what they was talking about and said hello. Well all the questions I could have asked had flown out my head but we all shook hands and Russ showed me through his artwork folder.
I would then continue around the rooms gathering signatures for my copy of You Are The Hero from the likes of Chris Achilleos and Leo Hartas. Then, for me at least came the daddy of them all. Steve Jackson who’s work first introduced me to the series with his Sorcery epic. We had a really good chat about how he found it easiest to write his books and how I got into collecting. Thinking things couldn’t get any better, the most surreal thing happened. Malcolm Barter, one of the earlier illustrators asked, “Hello, you’re Jam arnt you?” He had recognised me from my Facebook profile pic which had made him laugh several days before. A really nice gentleman, I hope if more books make it to market he will have another outing as interior artist.
Then came along the guy who organised all this. The one who has been working like a nutter over the past two years to bring this and his You Are The Hero book to light. Jonathan Green…once again recognised me before I even spun around and said hello, and thanked me for doing a few graphics for his Facebook group. The day would go one with mass signings, fancy dress contests and an auction held by Ian with some rare related artefacts. I did put in a bit of 25 pounds on a promotional item from the Deathtrap Dungeon release. Ian misheard and thought id said 75! Luckily I corrected him and maybe even luckier someone outbid me. I did mention I’d have liked the one that was wielded by a then unknown Kelly Brook which raised a giggle. All in all the event was very pleasing and the atmosphere very good. A special thanks goes to Mr Lain for getting me there and back, Mr Leicester for making the night before a good evening, and Mr Aukett for the books he’s sold me to patch up some of the ones missing from my collection.
Words cannot express the ineffable pride I am feeling right now even though still recovering from a bout of sciatica. Special thanks to Jonathan Green who has immortalised my name in a recent project very dear to me. See you Sunday! More gloating and showing off about that soon.
I returned to work today and managed to do a little catching up so I am certainly on the mend. Tomorrows the big day when Mr Lain and I hit the road for Sundays event. As much as anything else I am looking forward to going to that posh Italian restaurant Mr Leicester has booked. Already chose what I’d like. Hope it doesn’t give me the shits. Everything is packed and the taxi is booked for just before noon tomorrow. Hope to get there safely. Especially now I have a love interest… wink wink 😉
I hear Most Haunted may get another outing. Do people still take this crap in?
