I appear to have taken an interest in microbes. Moo and I found four jars at work and, as ive been eating probiotic yoghurt (the ones with three healthy bacteria types in them) we thought it’d be interesting to drop a bit in each jar. We then decided to add a mushroom to one, an orange segment to another, and bit of sausage meat to another. The fourth we left with just yoghurt in, sealed all the lids and now we shall sit back and see how they rot.
God, I need to get out more! On the other hand, im gonna get some petri dishes together and experiment properly. From it I’ll discover where the filthiest surfaces are at work as well as which of our products work best against the bacterium. Fascinating stuff.
Had a great day today. Met up with Mr Lain for our usual tri-monthly meal and Fighting Fantasy catch up. We scoured a few charity shops but alas, no FF books. Ian Livingstone just put a mystery object up on Twitter and asked all FF fans to guess what it is. Turns out it was a phonecard with the origional Warlock Of Firetop Mountain cover art on it, and a bunch of asian glyphs.
Course, Jam guessed it 😉
Been discovering James Herbert books of late, and bought a bumper crop of them. Ive read The Rats which was rather fun, and now halfway through The Secret Of Crickley Hall. Wouldnt mind reading The Fog as well afterwards. At some point I need to invest in Whitstable by Steven Volk. Yes, the Ghostwatch one.
So with the Doomsday Clock set at three minutes to midnight, ive been doing some small scale prepping. No bad thing either. Has anybody been remotely intrigued as to why Russia has been a little more explorative of late? Over the past year, we have had Russian jets escorted away from the south coast of England, a battleship floating down the North Sea and a couple of days ago I see Vlad P has bought up hundreds of square miles of land with a guesstimated intention of building the largest underground bunker in the world. bunkers. Anybody here thinking thats a prep for something to come?
Ive just read this article about Trident being updated with a predicted cost of 205 billionGBP. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/may/12/replacing-trident-will-cost-at-least-205-billion-campaign-for-nuclear-disarmament
Surely by now the British MoD know that our few hundred missiles will not be of any use. Missiles that I dont condone using personally. An arsenal only a fraction of the size of the larger countries. Money like that should be spent on the defensive, not the offensive. Switzerland already knew this and in the Cold War alone around 85% of homes were built with fallout shelters/safety bunkers. Both Switzerland and Russia know that with the correct means a nuclear war would be survivable, whereas Western goverments tell us they’re not. Bumcum. It certainly won’t be pretty but it can be if we use our brains. I’d implore the British government to take a leaf out of Switzerland’s book and become a neutral state, ridding itself of nuclear rockets altogether. Defense is better than offense, if we have no bullets why would anybody attack us ? We would be no threat. Spend these vast amounts on protecting your people with fallout shelters and safe havens. Stop fighting other peoples wars.
For those of you with a taste for prepping for the worst, check out this book. Although it is somewhat old, it will offer advice in to how to prepare for if the worst came about. Its available on Amazon Kindle for a few pounds.
To all governments around the world, just remember “civility can be all.”
Yea it’s remembrance day today. I’m always gutted when it lands on a workday as nobody seems to stop work for two minutes silence. What a bloody country.
Good news is the flasks arrived for my bug iut bags today. Couldve sworn I only ordered one but either way I got two. Theres a cracking good 65L backpack on eBay right now. Temptation is vast and id sure as heck fill it up.
Another year goes by I didn’t give the slightest interest in Guy Fawkes night. I remember as a kid how much I loved going to see firework displays. for several years id do a few backyard displays for my neices and nephews but somewhere along the lines my interest just fizzled out. Strange thing adulthood.
Yet on the other hand, im still so in to Fighting Fantasy and can tell any other fans who read this to keep September 2nd 2017 available and watch this space, as I believe a 35th anniversary convention (FFF2) is due to be announced. Ian Livingstone hisself has acknowledged the source this info came from so lets hope so. Would love to meet him again.
Anyway, heres a gif of our kitten, Drut, not playing fairly.
